Introducing the Victure HC100 Mini Trail Camera

Victure HC100 Mini Trail Camera

The Victure HC100 trail camera is an ideal tool for your hunting exploits, boosted by the small dimensions that make it easier to conceal. Aside from its dimensions, it also sports a camera that promises you images and videos of the best quality.

Besides having it help monitor deer and other game, you can use the HC100 for home surveillance. Once again, its dimensions play a role in this application as intruders can hardly make it out.

Review of Key Features and Benefits of the Victure HC100 Mini Trail Camera

Camera

The HC100’s gives you images with 16 megapixel picture resolution and 1080p video resolution at 30fps. These specs compare well with other similarly priced mini trail cameras and will help to give you the clarity you want in your pictures and videos.

There is also the photo+video mode, where it records a picture before recording a video. It is ideal if you want a variety in your shots. The video mic helps capture excellent sound quality, which enhances the videos.

Motion Sensor (PIR Sensor)

The HC100 has one centrally placed motion sensor, with a detection angle of 60 degrees. It has a detection range of 65 feet. These are pretty common specifications for PIR sensors on many of the mini trail cameras available today.

Trigger Speed

The trigger speed refers to how quickly the motion sensor activates the camera to start recording after detecting disturbances. The Victure HC100 has a trigger speed of 0.4 seconds, which is not the fastest but it is pretty good and should be able to get the job done in almost every situation.

Flash

The Victure HC100 has a 26 pcs 850nm infrared LED flash. The low glow flash has a range of 65 feet, which, much like the camera, compares well with similarly priced mini trail cameras and is about the norm.

Dimensions

One of the big selling points of the HC100 is its small dimensions. At 3.7 x 1.8 x 4.6 inches, it is small enough for you to conceal its location. It is ideal for home surveillance as intruders cannot spot it as easily as its larger-sized competition.

Time-Lapse Feature

As with many trail cameras these days, the HC100 mini has a time-lapse feature. It is a huge bonus, especially when you are receiving a lot of false triggers or want to monitor the area that is beyond the range of the PIR sensor. The time-lapse feature can also be helpful to use if you are trying to monitor slow-moving or cold-blooded animals.

Once you set your camera to this mode, it will take pictures at regular time intervals that you select. It is also worth noting that when using the time-lapse feature, you turn off the motion sensors.

LCD Screen

Given the camera’s small dimensions it might come as a pleasant surprise to know that the HC100 has an Ultra clear TFT-LCD screen, where you can browse your images and videos or view and change settings. As with all cameras that have a color LCD screen, it really helps to make setting up the camera quick and easy.

Memory Card (SD Card)

SanDisk 32GB Ultra MicroSDHC UHS-I Memory Card with Adapter - 98MB/s, C10, U1, Full HD, A1, Micro SD Card - SDSQUAR-032G-GN6MA

You need a secondary storage medium to store your recordings. The camera is compatible with micro SDHC cards, with a storage capacity of up to 32 GB. Class 10 cards are recommended (class 6 is the minimum you should use). We like the SanDisk Ultra 32GB MicroSDHC card.

We have always been fans of the standard (larger sized SD cards) since they are easier to handle. That being said, the fact that the HC1000 uses micro SD cards isn’t a reason to avoid the camera. Just remember to be careful when handling the memory card as it is quite small and can get lost outdoors, especially in the long grass or in brushy areas.

As always, you should format the memory card before using it.

Password Protection

You can restrict the use of the camera by encrypting it with a password. You can set up the password by going to the password menu option and provide an easy-to-remember password. Then every time you turn on the camera, you will be asked to provide the password.

Batteries

The HC100 mini camera only requires 4 AA batteries to power it. Since it uses so few batteries it is advisable to use only high-quality batteries. For the longest life and best performance, we suggest using Energizer Ultimate Lithium batteries.

Input for External Power Supply

The mini trail camera has an input for a 6V external power supply, which is a plus if you want to leave the camera in the field for an extended period of time.

Image Stamp

Like most trail cameras, the HC100 mini has an image stamp feature, which makes it easier to sort your photos and look for patterns of activity. The image stamp shows you the conditions under which pictures and recordings were taken. Items included in the HC100’s image stamp are date, time, temperature, and moon phase.

Included Accessories

Getting a trail camera mounted in your desired location and ensuring that it is facing just the right direction is always very important. To help aid this process, Victure included the following accessories with the HC100.

  • Metal mounting bracket
  • Three mounting screws
  • Mounting strap.

Areas Of Use

The primary role for the Victure HC100 mini trail camera, like most trail cameras, is to monitor deer or other game animals. If you are like me, you like to run multiple trail cameras, and given its small size and lightweight, the HC100 makes it very easy to hike around your hunting land with multiple cameras in your backpack.

The small size of the HC100 also makes it much easier to hide or camouflage the camera. This is important if you want to use the HC100 as a security camera or want to use it on public hunting lands.

That said if you do plan on using the HC100 on public hunting lands or as a security camera you want to remember that its low glow flash could give its location away at night as the LEDs glow red on the front of the camera when in use. That usually isn’t a big issue for me when I use hunting cameras on public hunting land, but it might change or rethink how I would use the HC100 as a security camera.

Price

The Victure HC100 mini trail camera is quite affordable, something some people might expect when they look at its size. However, the size should not distract you from its other amazing features like the high-quality camera, above-average trigger speed, LCD screen, and customizable features.

When you factor in these attributes, you know that you are getting a good deal.

Other Options

Toguard H20 Mini Trail Camera

Toguard H20 Mini Trail Camera

With an upgraded 16MP camera the Toguard H20 mini trail camera is very similar to the Victure HC100 in almost every way. One difference between these cameras is the trigger speed. The Toguard H20 has a fast 0.3 second trigger speed whereas the Victure HC100 has a slightly slower 0.4 second trigger speed. Another difference is that the Toguard H20 uses the larger SDHC memory cards, which is a plus since they are easier to handle, which means that they are less likely to be dropped and lost in the brush. Both of these cameras have low glow flash, but the Toguard has 32 infrared LEDs while the Victure has 26. We actually did a full review of the Toguard H20 and were pleased with the camera.

Since there really isn’t much of a difference between these two trail cameras so you might need to check the prices to see if one of them is on sale or decide based on which camo pattern you prefer. You can check the current price of the Toguard H20 here.

Campark T20 Mini Trail Camera

Campark T20 Mini Trail Camera

The upgraded 16MP Campark T20 is another great option to consider if you want an affordable mini trail camera. Among the few differences between the T20-1 and the Victure HC100 are the trigger speed, the number of infrared LEDs each camera has, and the type of memory cards each camera uses. The 0.5 second trigger speed on the Campark is just a bit slower than the 0.4 second trigger speed found on the Victure HC100. Meanwhile, the Campark has 22 low glow LEDs while the Victure has 26. The Campark T20 uses the larger SD cards (instead of the smaller micro SD cards like the Victure uses), which we like since they aren’t as easy to drop and lose in the grass and leaves when you are swapping out memory cards in the field.

With both of these trail cameras being so similar, you might want to see if you prefer one camera’s camo pattern over the other or check to see if one of the cameras is on sale. You could also read the full review that we did on the Campark T20. You can check the price of the Campark T20 here.

Final Thoughts

You need to have the right gear for a successful hunting season. Having some solid trail cameras is among the things hunters need these days.

The affordable Victure HC100 is a compact and versatile mini trail camera. It is easy to use and set up thanks to its LCD screen and included accessories. Meanwhile, its high-quality images and videos along with a long list of customizable features make the HC100 a great choice.
